Direct the development, configuration, and implementation of new systems. ?
Modify, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot existing systems. ?
Evaluate current systems-related strategies; recommend changes to achieve client goals. ?
Work with vendors as needed to install new and support existing systems. ?
Analyze and resolve operating systems and applications issues. ?
Generate and maintain reports and documentation. ?
Perform recovery of hardware and software. ?
Research and evaluate new technologies, products, and services, and apply modifications as they relate to client application needs. ?
Coordinate resource usage in a large production environment to facilitate process efficiency and project turnover. ?
Provide consultation and guidance to management, operations and build teams regarding the planning of future additions, modifications, and site developments. ?
Serve as subject matter expert in technical issues. ?
Review standards for hardware, software, and applications to ensure compliance with strategic direction.
Maintain System Run Books, defining day-to-day support, maintenance, troubleshooting knowledgebase of the infrastructure.
Collaborate with team members to establish performance models and validation techniques.
Collaborate with team members to establish best practices for monitoring and forecasting of system/application capacity.
Provide roadmap for technology lifecycle strategy (current, emerging, sunset). SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
This position is for an experienced senior Linux administrator
1. 5
years of experience on SuSE and Red Hat Linux Operating systems in a z/VM environment.
2. Must have working experience and understanding of z/VM and/or System Z architecture.
3. Must have solid troubleshooting skills.
4. Ability to develop automated processed using Linux batch/shell scripting languages
6. Ability to work with EMC and Hitachi storage
7. Should have experience with tools in an enterprise setting including Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management and Request Management
8. Experience in installing and upgrading software
9. Expertise with server provisioning and automation tools. BMC Blade logic preferred.
10. Should posses abilities to manage projects independently and require excellent documentation skills.
11. Must posses ability to work corroboratively with all teams.
